Falafel

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbps of Tarboush Falafel Seasoning
  • 2 cups of dried chickpeas (not canned or cooked)
  • 1 cup of fresh parsley, stems removed
  • ½ cup of fresh cilantro leaves, stems removed
  • 1 small red onion
  • 7-8 garlic cloves
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 1-2 tsp of salt
  • 2 tbsp of toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Place dried chickpeas and baking soda in a bowl filled with cool water. Soak overnight. Drain them and pat them dry
  2. Add chickpeas herbs, and spices into a food processor
  3. Transfer mixture into the fridge for at least 1 hour
  4. Fill medium saucepan about 3 in with oil on medium-high until oil temp is 350 ℉
  5. Shape falafel patties into ½ in thick each
  6. Carefully place patties in the fryer for about 3-5 min or until crispy and brown
  7. Place the falafel patties on a paper towel to drain excess oil
  8. Serve with tahini and your choice of vegetables. Enjoy!
