Za'atar Manakeesh

Ingredients:

  • ⅓ cup of Tarboush Zaatar and ¼ cup of olive oil for dough mixture
  • 1 tbsp of instant yeast
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 tsp of granulated sugar
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, activate the yeast with warm water and allow it to rest for 10 min
  2. Add salt, sugar, and olive oil and yeast mix and combine with a wooden spoon
  3. Wait a few minutes then add the flour gradually and mix with a wooden spoon until dough is shaggy
  4. Transfer the dough on a floured surface and knead the dough for 10 min
  5. Place the kneaded dough back in a bowl and cover with a towel and let it rise for 1 hour
  6. Preheat oven to 450℉
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and spread them to ¼ in thick
  8. Cover and let them rise for 10 min
  9. Place the dough into a sheet pan with a baking sheet
  10. Scoop za’atar and olive oil mixture and spread on the dough with mozzarella cheese
  11. Bake for 10-12 min or until the dough is golden. Enjoy!
